Math Portfolio Sample

Description:

This term for maths we have been using different strategies to solve problems. We are learning to use the best strategy for each problem and how to use that strategy. The strategies rounding and compensating, equal addition, place value partioning, reversibility. We were given a peice of paper with 4 questions on it. We had to answer the questions by picking and object and using the prices. We also had to use one of t he strategys above. I used reversibility in most of them.

Big Idea:

We were learning different strategies. We learnt them in our math groups. In my poster I have used equal addition maybe even place value portioning, reversibility. But I didn't know how to use rounding and compensating.

I think it's really good because it's neat. Next time I think you should use a different strategy. Eli

Evaluation:

I think I did a good on using reversibility. But I used reversibility in most of my working out. So next time I think I could use a different strategy then reversibility. Like rounding and compensating equal addition and a faster strategy.

Said Is Dead

Description:

What is my reading goal? My reading goal is Expand Vocabulary.  Every Monday morning I would book myself in for two Expanding Vocabulary work shops. One is a yellow and one is orange. In Expanding Vocabulary when we come across a word we don't know we would use one of our success criteria. We also used this context clues bookmark.

Success Criteria:

Reread the text to understand unknown words.

Read on to figure out what a word means.

Try to look for the base or root word inside it. Such as Reread. Read is the root word.

Compare and contrasts.

Synonyms.

Big Idea:

 In class we have a Tic-Tac-Toe board. A Tic-Tac-Toe board is a board with a whole bunch of activities based on a goal, two are green and the rest are plain white. The green ones are priorities and the white ones are ones were you can chose what to do. You have to do both greens and one white. This week we only had to do a white activity. The activity I was doing was said is dead. Said is dead is when you find other words instead of said. This activity can help me with my writing because I always use said. But now I found other words I can use them to.

Feedback/Feedforward:

You have done a great job in thinking of those words. Next time you could maybe put them in a sentences so the person looking at your post can understand how to put them in a sentences. Georgia :)

Evaluation: 

I think I did a good job on finding these different words instead of said. I think I could find I bit more words because there weren't that many. And if I had to do this again I would make the background a lighter coulor and the words dark coulors so it is easy to see the words.

Science Portfolio Sample

Description:

A few weeks ago we were making a food web about the food in our lunchbox's. We had to find out what our food comes from and then it all connects back to the sun. A food chain is like a chain that has these animals, insects, plants and the sun. For example the phytoplankton eats off the sun, krill eat the phytoplankton, fish eats the krill, birds eat fish and the killer whale would eat the bird. A food web is  like this.

Big Idea:

In Troy's science group we have been learning about food webs and food chains. We were also learning about what and where our food comes from that was in our lunchbox's. Well yeah all food 
comes from the supermarket but before it gets delivered to the supermarket's what helps make all the
food.

Feedback/Feedforward: 

You have done a really good job on your pictures they look great. Next time you could maybe go over the words in vivid to so you can see them better. Georgia :)

Evaluation:

I think I did a great job on making my poster and knowing what they are made of. I think I could make the some of the drawings a bit bigger because most of them are a bit small. If I was to do this again I would make the drawings bigger and go over the words in vivid so I can see the words.

Writing Using Conjunctions

Description:

Our task for writing is to write a sentence and then use one of the conjunction words to make another sentence. We would have to find a picture and then write the sentences. We had to highlight the words that are conjunctions. Here are some words we would start a sentence with.

When the snow stopped everyone went out to play. Although it was freezing cold.

The trains were filled with loads of people. Until the afternoon came.

No one has been in there since 1918. So that is why there are vines maybe even roots on top of this place.

Dependent Or Independent Sentences

Description:

In writing we did a Kahoot about dependent or a independent sentence. For our writing task we had to find a photo and describe what the thing is doing.

Catch Me If You Can- Defence Skills

Description:

Every week we learn about skills and movement that will help us play sports. This term’s focus has been around defense. We made a video showing some of the goals we have been practicing. I have highlighted the thing I think I have done well YELLOW and one thing I would like to work on PINK.

Body:

WALT: Defensive skills and movements

Success Criteria:

Body Movement

• Weight on balls of feet
• Feet shoulder width apart
• Knees flexed
• Concentration and eyes on ball, head and eyes up
• Push hard off outside foot and go forwards to attack pass
• Quick small feet, stay on balls of feet
• Arms within confines of body
• Take feet to ball
• Land with a SBP

Intercepting

• Body angled to see player and ball
• Anticipate pass and player movement

Restrictive Marking

• Meet player as they start towards the ball/where they want to go
• stay close to the attacking player
• Head and eyes up, arms close to body to avoid obstruction/contact
• Angle body so attacking player is ‘pushed’ away from where he/she wants to go

Feedback/Feedforward:

 I think that you are doing a good job at staying on the balls of your feet and getting to the ball fast, but you could work on your timing and trying to intercept more often. Ana

Evaluation:

I think I did a good job at defending in time to get the ball. But I think that I could work on timing the ball so I know when to go at the right time. If I was to time the ball I would find a pattern when the ball has been passed each time.

Discovery Time

Description:

Rosiland, Ana, Bella, Olivia and I showed Agency and Creativity because we worked together which is Agency. And we showed Creativity by making our own lyrics. We did GarageBand.
