Inquiry

In term 4 all of the seniors have been doing inquiry. I decided to do graduation with Troy. In graduation I am creating the hats. I have to make 54 hats I have finished the top of the hats, but now I have to plat the string. Sadly I am leaving this year.

I think that the year 5's and 4's that were in the graduation group that helped with the hats could help with the hats in next years graduation. I did the hats last year so I knew what to do, so I helped with the people that were doing it this year.

In the hats group we did the same thing as last year but we changed a bit on the top of the hats. Last year we got the year 6's to decorate the top of there hats but when they graduated they threw the hats away. So we are decorating the hats with there name and at the top it say class of 2015.

11/12/15 Week 9

What have you accomplished in the past thew weeks?
I have accomplished making the top of the hats and the round part of the hats. Now I am helping out with the decorations group.

What was the most challenging part in the graduation group?
The most challenging thing for me was creating the top part of the hats because no one was helping me. But when I was away for the morning most of the hats were done and I was able to finish them off in the next two weeks we had left.

What was your proudest moment in your inquiry?
My most proudest moment was finishing the hats in time yesterday because yesterday was the last inquiry day for the seniors. Now the decorations group is the most important because we will be hanging them up in boys high on Sunday ready for Monday which is graduation day.

Awesome Poetic Writng

Description:
As you know we have been doing poetry in Troys writing group. Last week we were doing Cinquains. We are putting the two poems that we wrote into our yearbook for the end of the year graduation for the year six's (Me). We put it in a slide first. Here are our wonderful poems. Can you guess which ones are the Cinquains and the which ones are the Free Verse.

About Cinquains:
Cinquains are a type of poetry when you don't have to rhyme, they have 2 syllables on the first line then 4 syllables on the second line, then 6 syllables, then 8 syllables and then back to 2 syllables. They look like a Christmas tree.

About Free Verse:
Free verse poetry is when there is no rules what so ever, it doesn't have to rhyme. We could write about any experience we had. So can you guess what I wrote about.

Big Idea:

Feedback/Feedforward:
Taylor i think that you have done very well with your Cinquains and free verses but you need to improve on Making your poetry more grasping and exiting. #Olivia

Evaluation:
I think I have done a good job on my Free Verse poetry because I made twelve of them in my spare writing time because it is too easy for me. But when we were doing the Cinquains I had trouble with coming up with words to put in my poem.

At the pool
Jump in
Warm, cold, fun time
Gliding, jumping, floating
Happy, wild, puffing, tired

Free Verse Poetry

Description:
In Troys writing group we are using poetry to write. This week we have been using free verse poetry. Free verse poetry is when there is no rules what so ever, it doesn't have to rhyme. We could write about any experience we had. So can you guess what I wrote about.

I was shaking.
Slowly rising up,
I felt nothing but the air.
I couldn't hear anything but my family talking about the ride.
The ride was tall like a giraffe.
Still going up, up, up.
We stopped.
I could see all of Auckland.
was waiting for a while.
Finally. Zoom!
Long drop
Down, down, down.
What a jaw drop.
Let's go again.

Evaluation:
1) Reflect on the links to senses you used: When I wrote this poem I wasn't thinking about adding the five senses into my poem. But when I finished the poem I remembered to add the senses. But I could only add feel, see and hear because we can't smell anything unless someone farted and we arn't allowed food on the rides, so we can't taste anything.

2) Reflect on the lanagage features you used: The lanagage features I have used was alliteration and similes.

3) Reflect on what you could improve on next time: Next time I think I could use more lanagage features like personification etc. but I think I did a good job on describing my experience. I think I could add more senses and write about a poem that has more senses in.

Where Am I On The Wall

Description:
In class we have been putting photos of ourselves on the wall to see where we're at for our learning. There is Self Managing, Self Directed and Self Agentic learner.

I think I am a Self Managing learner because I haven't nailed all of the goals on the Self Managing wall.

The goal that I am currently working on is setting smart goals for myself.

The things I need to do to achieve this goal are to set goals for myself in my learning so I can move on to the other goals I need to work on.

Troublesome Jones

Description:
For reading this term we got to chose three books we wanted to read. The reason we have chosen three books is because then Elly, Rebecca and Troy would chose one of the books out of the three we had chosen. My three choices were Troublesome Jones, Date of Origin and Inside The Game. The book I am reading is Troublesome Jones.

1. Title - "Troublesome Jones" sounds like a very mischief title. I think jones is a boy. I don't know what the boy is like in this story, but I'll have to find out what he is like when I read the book. Why is the story called "Troublesome Jones.

Cover Deisen - I think the illustrations look like someone's up to misheif. I wonder why theres a truck and a bike on the cover. Could they be used for something bad. There might be a truck on the cover because his dad drove away in it.

Predictions - I think this story is about a boy who gets up to misheif and is a troubled boy. Maybe he has no siblings. And he is lonely with no friends.
